327 pages ; 20 cm

If you like Film Noir, this is probably a good book. I'm not that style, at least in reading. The characters are real enough to serve the intrigue and plot...but aren't terribly interesting. The plot gets teased at 1/3 the way through...and doesn't happen until 2/3 the way through.

Spoiler time: I honestly liked the last 1/3. Plot took hold and actually handed off nicely from the character who I thought was the main character who dies and then bounces well as things unravel in a messy but satisfying ending, ultimately wrapping nicely with a character who the story is about but never came to his own...he actually gets a good and satisfying ending without spending too much time dwelling on all the plot - good closure and ending befitting the book
